CLINICAL SERVICES

Minor Surgery

This is offered by arrangement with your doctor.

Maternity Care

All the doctors provide this service for their own patients in co-operation with the midwives and health visitors.

Family Planning

We offer confidential advice on all family planning matters, and provide cap and coil fitting and contraceptive injections. We can also administer contraceptive injections and contraceptive implants at the surgery.

Childhood Vaccination Clinics

These are held at the Brough Surgery on Monday mornings 9.30 - 11.00am and Wednesdays 4.00 - 6.00pm, and South Cave Surgery on Thursday mornings 11.00am -12 noon and Friday 10.00 - 11.20am. Advice on childhood immunisations can be requested from the health visitor, doctor or nurse.

Holiday Vaccinations

The practice nurses provide advice and vaccination for all foreign travel. Please complete a holiday questionnaire (available at reception) and return it to the surgery at least eight weeks before you intend to travel. The nurse will then check if you require any vaccinations and any neccessary appointments can be made. Both the Brough and South Cave surgeries are registered Yellow Fever Centres. Some vaccinations may incur a charge.

Chronic Disease Management

Our nurses hold regular clinics to help with the care of patients with respiratory disease (including asthma abd chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), vascular disease (including heart disease and stroke) and diabetes. An appointment can be made for any of these clinics without being referred by your doctor.

Dietician

A community dietician is available at both the Brough and South Cave surgeries. Referral can be made through your doctor or nurse.

Flu Vaccinations

Appointments for flu vaccinations are made between September-November each year. Flu vaccination is available to patients over the age of 65 or living in nursing or residential homes and to those with chronic heart, kidney or lung disease (including asthma), diabetes or poor resistance to infection.

Foot Care

Podiatry (chiropody) is available at the Brough Primary Care Contact Centre, 60 Welton Road, Brough HU15 1BH, telephone 01482 335015. You may self-refer to the podiatry service using the standard application form which is available from the reception, or may be referred by your GP. At your first appointment you will be assessed to establish your medical/podiatric need. The podiatrist will then decide if you require a short course of treatment followed by discharge or whether your feet will need regular ongoing care.

Physiotherapy

A physiotherapist works with the practice and is based at the Primary Care Contact Centre. Referral is at your doctor's discretion.

Referrals

From time to time your doctor may refer you to a specialist for further treatment or investigations. If you would like a copy of the referral letter, please let the doctor know at the time.

Non-NHS Services

From time to time you may request a particular report, letter or certificate from your doctor, or perhaps request a medical examination for a particular purpose. Services such as these lie outside the range of core medical services provided by the NHS and you will be asked to pay a fee.

A list of fees is available in the reception area.
